• Cyngor Ysgol a Phwyllgorau Eco a Lles yn ymweld a'r Senedd yng Nghaerdydd / School Council & Eco and Wellbeing Committees visiting the Senedd in Cardiff

  Cafodd aelodau'r Cyngor Ysgol y Pwllgor Eco a'r Pwyllgor Lles diwrnod cynhyrchiol iawn yn y Senedd ym Mae Caerdydd heddiw, wrth ddysgu am ddemocratiaeth a'u rol nhw yn lleisio'u barn a gwneud penderfyniadau. Bydd y sgiliau hyn yn ddefnyddiol iawn wrth iddyn nhw wrando ar farn eu cyfoedion er mwyn parhau i wella'r ysgol.

   

  Members of our School Council, Eco Committee and Wellbeing Committee had a really informative day at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay this morning, learning all about democracy and how they have a voice in the decision making process. These skills will serve them well as they listen to the views of their peers in order to continue to improve the school. (28/1/25)

  

• Disgos Santes Dwynwen / St Dwynwen's Discos

  Diolch i bawb am gefnogi ein disgos Santes Dwynwen dros yr wythefnos ddiwethaf (5 ohonyn nhw i gyd!), yn enwedig aelodau' Ffrindiau YGG Pontybrenin' am eu gwaith caled o flaen llaw ac ar y nosweithiau. Rydym yn ddiolchgar iawn! Codwyd cyfanswm arbennig o £967 a fydd yn cael ei ddefnyddio i brynu adnoddau gwerthfawr i'r ysgol.

   

  Thank you to everyone who supported the St Dwynwen’s discos over the past week (5 discos in total!), especially the members of the 'Friends of YGG Pontybrenin' who worked so hard beforehand and on both evenings. We’re incredibly grateful! A fantastic £967 was raised which will be used to purchase valuable resources for the school. (27/1/25)

  

• Pythefnos Dathlu Sgiliau a Gwaith / Celebrating Skills and Work Fortnight

  Bu diwrnodau 'Dathlu fy Sgiliau' a 'Dathlu fy Ngwaith' yn lwyddiant ysgubol unwaith eto eleni, gyda nifer fawr o rieni a rhieni-cu yn mynychu'r sesiynau ac yn ymfalchio yng nghynnydd eu plant a'u wyrion . Hyfryd oedd gweld disgyblion yn arddangos eu datblygiad sgiliau tra bod eu rhieni a'u rhieni-cu yn derbyn mewnwelediad i'r strategaethau sydd ar waith ar lawr y dosbarth.

   

  Our 'Celebrating my Skills' days and 'Celebrating my Work' days proved very successful yet again this year, with a large number of parents and grandparents attending and marvelling at the progress of their children and grandchildren. It was wonderful to see the pupils showcasing their skills development whilst parents and grandparents got an insight into some of the strategies used in class. (21/1/25)

  

• Carolau a Choeden / Carols & Christmas Tree

  Braf oedd gweld cymaint o deulu YGG Pontybrenin allan yn ein cefnogi ni unwaith eto neithiwr gyda'n gwasanaeth Carolau a Choeden. Roedd awyrgylch arbennig i'r noson ac o ganlyniad i'ch haelioni neithiwr a dros yr wythnosau diwethaf yn prynu tocynnau raffl, codwyd £1661. Ga'i ddiolch yn fawr iawn unwaith eto i aelodau 'Ffrindiau YGG Pontybrenin' am eu hymdrechion wrth baratoi am y noson yn ogystal â'u gwaith di-flino yn ystod y digwyddiad. Diolch yn fawr iawn i chi gyd!

   

  The YGG Pontybrenin family were out in force once again last night during our Carols & Christmas Tree Service. The event had a wonderful atmosphere and as a result of the raffle ticket sales, both last night and over the past month, we raised an amazing £1661. A big thank you as always to the members of 'The Friends of YGG Pontybrenin' for all their efforts leading up to the event and during the evening. Diolch yn fawr iawn i chi gyd! (16/12/24)

  

• Cyngerdd Nadolig Tenovus / Tenovus Christmas Concert

  Eglwys y Santes Fair yn Abertawe oedd lleoliad cyngerdd Nadolig hyfryd heno, gyda chôr yr ysgol, o dan arweiniad Mrs Sartori a gyda chyfeiliad Mrs Dando, yn perfformio i gynulleidfa fawr, a'r cyfan i gefnogi elusen gancr Tenovus. Mwynheodd pawb mas draw a phleser oedd gweld cymaint o ddisgyblion yn cynrychioli'r ysgol gydag anrhydedd a gyda gwen mawr ar eu hwynebau. Da iawn chi!  

   

  St Mary's church in Swansea was the setting for a wonderful Christmas concert this evening, with the school choir, under the direction of Mrs Sartori and with the accompaniment of Mrs Dando, performing to a large audience, all in support of Tenovus cancer charity. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed and it was a pleasure seeing so many of our pupils representing the school with distinction and with beaming smiles on their faces. Da iawn chi! (10/12/24) 

  

• Llwyddiant Pel fasged! / Basketball Success!

  Llongyfarchiadau mawr i dimau pêl fasged merched a bechgyn yr ysgol ar eu llwyddiant yn rownd gyntaf twrnamaint pel fasged ysgolion Abertawe heddiw. Enillon nhw yn dilyn chwarae campus gan bob aelod o'r garfan ac edrychwn ymlaen yn awr at y rownd derfynol yn y flwyddyn newydd. Ymlaen YGG Pontybrenin!

   

  Congratulations to both our girls and boys basketball teams on their success in the first round of the Swansea schools basketball tournament today. They won following some dazzling play by every member of the squad and we now look forward to the finals in the new year. Ymlaen YGG Pontybrenin! (22/11/24)

  

• Cyflwyno Siec i Ganolfan Gancr Maggie's / Presenting a Cheque to Maggie's Cancer Centre

  Hyfryd oedd croesawu Lucia o Ganolfan Gancr Maggie's yn Abertawe i’r ysgol heddiw er mwyn cyflwyno siec o £2532.50 i’r elusen arbennig hon yn dilyn ein taith gerdded noddedig, ac i glywed mwy am eu gwaith pwysig nhw. Diolch unwaith eto i deulu YGG Pontybrenin am eich haelioni.

   

  It was wonderful welcoming Lucia from Maggie's Cancer Centre in Swansea to school today where we presented this amazing charity with a cheque for £2532.50 following our sponsored walk, and to hear all about the vital work they do. Thank you once again to the entire YGG Pontybrenin family for your incredible generosity. Diolch! (18/11/24)

  

• Diwrnod y Cadoediad / Armistice Day

  I goffáu Diwrnod y Cadoediad ac aberth y dynion a'r menywod hynny a gollodd eu bywydau mewn gwrthdaro, mae disgyblion yr Ysgol Uwch wedi creu pabïau cerameg unigol sydd nawr yn cael eu harddangos wrth fynedfa'r ysgol. Wedi eu gwneud o glai, mae'r pabiau wedi cael eu gwydro gyda phaent coch, gyda gleiniau du yn y canol.

   

  To commemorate Armistice Day and the sacrifices of the servicemen and women who have given their lives in conflict, our Upper School pupils have created individual ceramic poppies that are now on display at the entrance to the school. Made from clay, the poppies have been glazed in red with a black bead at the centre. • Disgos Tymor yr Hydref / Autumn Term Discos

  Diolch yn fawr iawn i bawb am gefnogi ein disgos dros y bythefnos ddiwethaf. Hoffwn ddiolch yn arbennig i aelodau 'Ffrindiau YGG Pontybrenin' a'r holl wirfoddolwyr, gan gynnwys y staff, am eu cymorth yn trefnu'r disgos o flaen llaw ac am eu cefnogaeth ar y nosweithiau. Codwyd cyfanswm arbennig o £962! Ymlaen Pontybrenin!

   

  A big thank you to everyone for supporting our discos over the past fortnight. In particular I would like to thank the members of 'The Friends of YGG Pontybrenin' and all the volunteers, including the staff, for all their support in organising the discos and for their help on both evenings. • Cystadleuaeth Coginio yr Urdd / Urdd Cooking Competition

  Hyfryd oedd gweld 'Masterchefs' y dyfodol ar waith heddiw wrth i nifer o ddisgyblion gystadlu yng nghystadleuaeth CogUrdd a PhobUrdd yr Urdd eleni, gyda 'wraps' a chacennau ar y fwydlen. Roedd y creadigrwydd a safon y paratoi a'r coginio yn wych a gallai'r bwydydd hyn fod wedi eu gwerthu mewn caffi neu archfarchnad lleol. Llongyfarchiadau mawr i Alana ar ennill y gystadleuaeth CogUrdd gyda'i 'wrap' ac i Ifan ar ennill y gystadleuaeth PobUrdd gyda'i gacennau. Da iawn chi a phob lwc yn y rownd nesaf.  

   

  It was wonderful seeing the next generation of 'Masterchefs' at work today as a number of our pupils competed in this year's Urdd CogUrdd and PobUrdd competitions, with wraps and cakes/muffins on the menu. The creativity and standard of food preparation and cooking was outstanding and would not have looked out of place in a cafe or on sale in a local supermarket. Congratulations to Alana on winning the CogUrdd competition with her wrap and to Ifan on his victorious cupcakes. Da iawn chi! Best of luck to them both in the next round. (18/10/24)
