'Burns By Your Side' -  ein prosiect darllen gyda chwn. 

Mae'r prosiect wedi'i anelu at blant o bob oed i helpu gyda sgiliau darllen a chyfathrebu. Mae darllen i’n cŵn cymorth dysgu hyfforddedig wedi cael ei brofi i gael effaith enfawr ar y plant sy’n cymryd rhan. 

Y nod yw helpu'r plant i deimlo eu bod wedi'u grymuso a'u hysgogi. Mae'r ofn a'r pwysau y gallant deimlo wrth ddarllen i oedolyn yn cael eu tynnu i ffwrdd ac mae lefel eu straen yn lleihau. Mae’r cynllun cŵn darllen yn darparu amgylchedd tawel, ymlaciol a diogel lle gall plentyn fwynhau llyfr heb unrhyw farn, sy’n aml yn arwain at ddatblygu geirfa a gwella sgiliau darllen. 

Rydym yn hyrwyddo arfer gorau wrth weithio i sicrhau lles y plant, gwirfoddolwyr a chŵn. Fel rhan o’r cynllun mae ein cŵn yn cael eu profi am eu natur dda a’u natur dda gan hyfforddwyr cwbl gymwys. Ar ôl asesu eu haddasrwydd, mae'r gwirfoddolwyr a'u ci yn cwblhau proses hyfforddi ac asesu sy'n bodloni safonau lefel arian cynllun dinesydd da y Kennel Club.

Burns By Your Side - our flagship reading with dogs project.

The project is aimed at children of all ages to help with reading and communication skills. Reading to our trained learning support dogs has been proven to have a huge impact on the children that participate.

The aim is to help the children feel empowered and motivated. The fear and pressure they may feel when reading to an adult is taken away and their stress level is reduced. The reading dogs scheme provides a calm, relaxing safe environment where a child can enjoy a book without any judgement, which often results in development of vocabulary and improvement in reading skills.

We advocate best practice working to ensure the welfare of the children, volunteers, and dogs. As part of the scheme our dogs are tested for their good nature and temperament by fully qualified trainers. Once assessed for their suitability, the volunteers and their dog complete a training and assessment process which meets the standards of Kennel Club good citizen scheme silver level.
